This book is definitely different than any book I have read before it. It left me with a lack of emotions at the end that I truly did not know how to handle. I felt empty, ambivalent confused. Did I like the book? Did I not? I could not tell at all. During the first half of the book, I felt as if I was not enjoying it as much as I could. I was already 100 pages in and nothing much had happened. Jesse Andrews used these pages to build up the world of Greg Gaines’s life and give background stories about him, Earl, and Rachel. The second half had more of a plot to it, but i felt as if I could predict what was happening next. I was not blown away by anything in this novel.Finally, after sitting on this review for a few days, I think I have discovered what it is about this book that caused it to be predictable and why it felt off to me. I realized that Greg and I are way too similar. I have never been one to cry about anything. I don’t feel bad when sad things happen, I more-so get annoyed that I don’t feel the same kind of emotions as many other claim to. I’m not sure if that is weird, or just how I am. I realized that Greg Gaines had this similar issue and it made me realize how real of a character Greg is.This book is real. It is disgusting in parts. It is not a story about triumph and love. It is real. It is a story about an event and that is what makes it great. Jesse Andrews is able to prove that you do not need a big, glamorous ending to a novel in order to leave a lasting impression. I’m glad I had this realization and I am glad I read this book, as well.

This book saved me from a reading slump. It almost hit me right after the Bout of Books read-a-thon, but I persevered through thanks to this novel. Victoria Schwab has a beautiful writing style and, if you read the synopsis, you know that there is a lot of world building required for this novel. Schwab is able to build up this world amazingly without boring you. The entire book is action packed and always left me wanting more. I found myself reading for longer periods of time without noticing how far in the novel I actually got. I was too engrossed to notice.There are so many characters in this book but Schwab is able to help you remember each of them and does not allow them to blur together. Not only did I adore Mac, but Wesley and Roland were amazing supporting characters as well. This book revived my love for reading and I am giving it nothing less than 5/5 stars. Not only is this book amazing, but it is beautiful as well. I love the cover and the design on the inside of the hardcover is beautiful, too. It would be a great addition to your library as well as something that will look good on your shelf, too!

I read through this book in the span of 2 hours. Usually, I am a very slow reader, but due to the pictures being used to partially tell the story, you can speed through it easily. This is good because Selznick makes you want to know how the magical story of Hugo Cabret comes to an end. The book is split into two parts and the first part doesn't really end in a very complete manner, making you want to scurry onto the next. The pictures kept me entertained, in awe, and engaged all at the same time. This is definitely an enhanced way of reading that activates more of the sense/imagination. I know it's middle grade, but it was something light that I felt I should read at the time and I don't regret it at all. Definitely pick this one up.

I really, really enjoyed Prodigy. I think I actually enjoyed Prodigy more than Legend, which almost seems impossible. The alternating first person points of view kept me engaged easily and Marie Lu's writing style really appealed to me. I was in a reading slump during the first half of this book and it took from March until May to pick this book up again and finish it. I'm glad that I did, though, because as soon as I picked it up, I couldn't put it back down. The non-stop action of the second half kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending really caught me completely off guard, leaving me wanting Champion NOW! November cannot come fast enough. But, I also enjoyed the fact that Legend and Prodigy have closure as novels. They are not an intro to the next novel. They do not rely on each other, but fuel each other instead which is amazing.I do wish that I knew what becomes of Tess. She pissed me off so much for the first half of the novel. Just because you're around doesn't mean Day has to love you! The 'Friend Zone' idea doesn't apply in this situation so STOP FUSSING. She pushed herself at him and he was too overwhelmed to understand what to do. That part of the romance upset me.I also want to know if June is OK. The break up felt way to real & like my own life's past, which caught me off guard, causing me to feel it way more than I should.Overall, I give this book 5/5 stars. If I could give it 100 stars, I would. It deserve ALL OF THE STARS. But alas, 5 is the most that I can give. If you haven't read Legend READ IT. You need these two books in your life. The character building, militaristic version of the USA, and ever-changing plot make it a must read.

I can't even put my thoughts into words right now. Beetee noooo. Peeta nooooo. I can only assume I am in a state of shock. I definitely enjoyed this more than The Hunger Games, and I hope Mockingjay is just as fantastic.
